Liposuction (Removal of Fat Depots)
Unsightly accumulations of fat in the neck, the belly, the flanks, buttocks, hips, legs and knees that cannot be influenced significantly by dieting or exercise may be removed without scars by liposuction and the body shaped to a more pleasing and harmonic figure. Before the actual suction a “tumescence solution” is infiltrated, which softens and partially dissolves the fat cells under the skin to facilitate the removal. The overlying skin envelope must however have sufficient elasticity to shrink afterwards. 3-5 liters of aspirated fat is considered a safe quantity in one operative session. Liposuction is ideal for localized accumulations of fat. Generalized overweight is a poor indication.
