Abdominoplasty (Belly Correction)

Overweight, weight reduction, child baring, abdominal operations etc. may stretch the abdominal skin and muscles to make the belly unsightly sometimes with an apron.
If diet or exercise are inefficient a surgical correction is indicated. In minor cases shaping with liposuction is sufficient. In more severe cases the excess skin and underlying fat is removed through a low “caesarean section” and the abdominal silhouette is shaped by muscle tightening +/- additional liposuction.
Minor problems may be corrected under local anaesthesia and as outpatient procedure.
Major problems require general anaesthesia and approximately 2-3-days of hospitalization. The healing takes 2 weeks. The patient is advised to wear a compression garment for 4-6 weeks.
